Comments – Forums

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. LSF collects information from the online forums (including posts) to study, analyze and improve the services we provide, and to advance research conducted alone or in collaboration with other organizations or individuals.

Information may be shared with third parties (which may include but is not restricted to individual research partners or organizations) but only after personally identifiable information such as name, address, telephone number, or username has been removed by our web-related service providers.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact Forms

It is possible that if you register for a program or newsletter that you may receive an online fundraising appeal from LSF. Only email addresses or regular mail addresses would be used for this purpose. Users may request to be removed from mailing lists at any time. Policy of No Sharing

The group will not share, sell or exchange donor’s information for third party’s fundraising or marketing purposes.

Online Donations

Visitors to our websites who make monetary contributions through our websites are asked to provide information, which may be kept on a proprietary database if required by law for reporting purposes. We will not share, sell or exchange donor’s information for third party’s fundraising or marketing purposes. Donors may request anonomyity if and when allowed by government regulations.  Any actual monetary transactions are done via STRIPE, a third-party, and only an identifier ID is used during transaction to further protect your information. Security Measures

LSF takes appropriate precautions to protect our site visitors’ information. Our websites use industry-standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption on all web pages including those where personal or sensitive information is required. This encryption allows your data to be safely transmitted over the Internet without being intercepted, read, altered or deleted by a malicious third party. LSF has its headquarters in the United States, and information we collect from you will be processed in the United States. Do Not Track

LSF does not respond to web browser “do not track” signals or other similar mechanisms due to cost to maintain and utilize such software technology. Retention of informationyou provide to LSF will be retained for no longer than reasonably necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was obtained, or for a period specifically required by law or regulation. Your information will be disposed of in a manner that seeks to prevent loss, theft, misuse or unauthorized access.

Children under 15

LSF does not specifically collect information about children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under the age of 15, we will delete the information as quickly as possible.

How Long we Retain your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile.

All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What Rights you have over your Data
